Finders Keepers

One of the most surprisingly fun parts about buying a house has been discovering some of the stuff left behind by the previous owner. I guess I wasn't expecting much to be left behind, except what we agreed on (i.e., curtains, appliances), but there was a lot of random stuff left here.

It's kind of like finding treasure... although some things take a little more imagination and creativity! Anywho, since I have a little imagination and some creativity, I thought it would be fun, and would help me recharge my battery, to do make use of some of the stuff I've found. And naturally, I'd share them here with you.

I was excited to find lots of stuff in my little garage- some old wood, doors, windows, and lots of pots and things for the flowers in the yard. I figured most of the pots were bigger clay pots for outside but I was really excited to find this little beauty in the mix too!

A pretty pale blue and I like the way the corners are a little higher and there's kind of a swoop in between. I knew it would come in handy and would make a nice addition to a couple of other little blue pots I had. Voila! Jade gets a new home!

Doesn't she look stunning?! What kind of trash to treasure projects have you done?

Stay tuned for more...

I hated most of the junk left in our house. I hope I don't do that to new buyers whenever we move out. One thing we did like was the blackboard they left on the garage. Kids like it! I bought this gaudy, armoire but it's looking better each day. I'll have to give it some thought.

Very cute, you are so creative. Let's see...the old lady left a lot of crap behind in my house. I can't think of anything treasures though. Hmm, maybe I'll have to go hunting.

Yeah, at first I wanted to throw some of the stuff I found in the house right in the trash, but then I stopped to think about it. I had already been reading a bunch of blogs about DIY projects and whatnot, so I told myself to wait. I'm glad I did...I can't wait to do some of the bigger projects!
