Last night my friend, BK, and I were going to have a "strategic planning meeting" to discuss how to approach a massive project: taking out those hateful shrubs in front of my house. The bushes that couldn't be taken out because of these little guys.
We looked (again) at the job waiting for us...we planned to get started after work today (Friday) and then work most of the day tomorrow (Saturday) after our reinforcements arrived. I'm not going to lie, both of us were panic-stricken.
BK wanted to just cut a branch or two "just for fun". Clearly we didn't stop.
I cannot describe how much I love those bushes being gone. After we were finished for the evening, we sat on my porch swing and for the first time, I could actually see the street! Love. It.
We're going to tackle the other side after work today and see how far we get - though I bet we can get through the others, especially because we might actually use the electric reciprocating saw this time!
I also cannot describe how grateful I am to BK!
More pictures to come, stay tuned!
Happy weekend!

Wow! Way to tackle that bush!
You're house is too cute btw!
heids, i cannot believe the difference in the house before and after. it just amazes me. i knew it would look nice but WOW. now i won't have to stand out with a flashlight showing the house number for a pizza delivery. can't wait till the other side is done.
E- I'm not sure we'll get the stumps out like you did, but we sure tackled it. Thanks for the inspiration!! Also, thanks for the compliment...it's much cuter now!
Mom- You only held that flashlight because my porch light burned out and my neighborhood is very dark. I still think it was hilarious and embarrassing all at the same time! :) I am also shocked by the difference. I can't stop staring at the pictures.
Teehee... Yeah it looks like you have your work cut out for you! Our stumps weren't that big! :o)
I remember when we first moved in there was a bush/climbing thing on the side of our garage that had a stump like the one you have pictured above. Pat ended up taking the reciprocating saw and digging it into the ground to cut the roots. It worked but it took some time.
